Data Analyst, Reading, Berkshire

You will be responsible for generating reports for our Senior Leadership, Finance, Operations and HR functions to provide both strategic and tactical overviews of trends and identify performance improvement opportunities.
Working as part of the IT Business Support function, you will develop and deploy high-quality in-house reporting capability and provide critical insight to deliver significant business benefits.

What does the role involve?

  • Build, iterate and maintain dashboards & report packages for internal and external customer audiences, using business analytics reporting tools.
  • Design, build and maintain pre-packaged datasets, often from multiple complex sources, for analysis within Self-Service environments.
  • Interpret data, analyse results using statistical techniques and provide reports, analysis and commentary.
  • Design and maintain automated data processes, to ensure easy access to up-to-date information.
  • Support the business’ drive for data integration and standardisation across our multiple data sources and operational lifecycles.
  • Develop an understanding of the data sources used in our business, to identify and propose viable solutions based on the customer requirements.
  • Use data analysis to identify, analyse and interpret problem trends, such as repeat issues / key trends and metrics, to support the Service Support Coordinator in undertaking Problem Management analysis
  • Identify opportunities to increase efficiency and automation of processes.
  • Update and maintain process and reference documents.
  • Implement system changes in line with change management processes.

What competencies / previous experience do you need to have to be considered? 

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role required.
  • Ability to understand requirements of customers and adequately interpret information
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills to understand workflows, and interpret and present data from multiple sources
  • Detailed and methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to prioritise work effectively and multi-task to meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent soft skills, with the ability to deliver complex analysis of data and processes to a variety of audiences
  • Experience working with and querying databases in SQL Server 2012 onwards, using T-SQL
  • Experience with BI platforms such as Tableau, or Power BI

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday, core hours of 09:00 to 17:30
