We are pleased to announce that one of our long-standing customers, Birmingham Airport, has decided to implement ESP’s cutting-edge eScan solution to improve the efficiency of its security and check-in services. We will deploy eScan across 10 self-scan automated barriers (where passengers can easily scan their boarding pass to be permitted into the departure gate area), and three manned desks (facilitating the airport staff’s boarding-pass checks).
ESP’s eScan solution
eScan is a passenger validation system that digitally checks the flight date, location and name on passengers’ boarding passes to control access to the departure gate area. By employing a mix of self-scan and manned barriers, Birmingham Airport can ensure that its passengers’ flight details are checked quickly, easily and accurately at all times – removing any unnecessary delays, improving security and alleviating stress from busy airport staff.
As well as implementing our eScan solution, Birmingham Airport is working with ESP on other airport solutions, such as deploying tracking points around the airport to gather data about queue times and providing security staff with mobile eScan scanners to enhance the airport’s tracking and security efforts. We are also going to integrate eScan with Flybe’s departure control system to further streamline the airline’s passenger validation processes.
